Telemental health offers a variety of benefits exclusive to this medium of therapy. Patients feel at ease in the comfort of their own homes, and less anxious about commuting to appointments and seeing others in the waiting room. Sessions and scheduling are more efficient once the barrier of travel is eliminated for busy clients, and college students can continue working with the therapist they have built a relationship with. Separated, divorced, and high-conflict parents will find teletherapy more conducive to co-parenting. Teletherapy also gives me a fuller picture of my clients’ lives, as I can experience their physical environment. While my office is closed to in-person appointments on weekends, I am still available for teletherapy.
